BUILDING AN ONLINE PORTFOLIO WITH GOOGLE SITES You are going to use Google Sites to build an online photography portfolio.
WHERE DO YOU BEGIN? THREE EASY STEPS! STEP #1 -Gather the photos you want to publish on your website. •Start with a collection of your favorite20+ images. •Photos can be from your photo assignments, life, instagram.... but, all photos must be taken by YOU!
•If some images are from class assignments and you've deleted them from your phone, you can access them from Google Classroom...
•Be sure to lighten or darken images (use "levels" or "curves" adjustments). •CROP YOUR IMAGES BEFORE PLACING THEM ON YOUR WEBSITE! •Create a new "FAVORITES" folder in Google Drive (You can call this folder anything you like...)
STEP #2 -Watch the tutorials about how to create a website using Google Sites. •Click these links and watch the Google Sites tutorials. Read: Google Sites Help page Watch: Creating your Google Sites Portfolio Watch: Google Sites Tutorial For Beginners •STEP #3 -Build your online portfolio using the Google Sites website builder.
•Your portfolio will have three pages:
1) A "Home" Page with title and large image.
2) A gallery with your favorite 15-20 images (either as a "collage" or a Google Slideshow).
3) An "About" page -with information about your photography.. (we will do this later -see below).
•STEP #4 (to be assigned later) Add an "About" page... Later, you will create an “artist” statement that can be used in the “about” section of your website -this will be described in more detail at a later date.
