FLASH-BLUR LECTURE SLIDES

PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR SUBJECT USING FLASH-BLUR
•Put your subject in dim light, zoom the camera lens, or turn the camera, or shake the camera while you shoot using the flash.
•After you've taken an image, you should see evidence of the flash with slow shutter speed -streaks of light in the background and the subject is correctly exposed

CAMERA EXPOSURE SETTINGS FOR FLASH-BLUR
•Set the ISO on 100.
•Use "Auto White Balance"

For exposure mode, you can use TV or AV
•If using "TV" mode on the camera.
•Pick a slow shutter speed, like 05" (this is 1/2 second)
•The camera will pick the f/stop for you.
Or...

•If using “AV” mode on the camera.
•Pick a big number aperture like f/11 or f/16

CAMERA "FLASH" MENU SETTINGS TO SHOOT FLASH-BLUR
•Go to: MENU >THEN SCROLL TO THE FIRST RED CAMERA ICON.
•Scroll down to... FLASH CONTROL >BUILT-IN FLASH FUNC. SETTING
•Look for shutter sync. >set to 2nd curtain sync.

TIPS TO HELP YOU WITH THE FLASH-BLUR
•Make sure your subject is in a DIMLY LIT area with lights only in the background.
•Zoom the lens, or rotate the camera when you shoot.
•Be careful not to “drag” the background lights over your subject’s face!
•Get close to your subject! (only head and shoulders/torso –no feet!)
•Shoot a lot of photos of the slow shutter flash technique!

•SUBMIT 1 PHOTO ON A BACKGROUND -SEE EXAMPLE ABOVE •YOUR IMAGE SHOULD BE SUBMITTED IN THAT FORMAT...
•SUBMIT YOUR PROOFSHEET WITH 15 "READABLE" THUMBNAILS

Save your images as:
lastname_flash-blur1
lastname_flash-blur2 (this is for your proof sheet)


Put your two photos & proofsheet in the FLASH-BLUR folder in the Google Classroom server.
