WEB BANNER EXAMPLES SLIDESHOW

Shooting for the CVHS Website

THE ASSIGNMENT:
Submit TWO interesting “scenic” photos of Castro Valley High for the school's website. These photos will be used for the banner at the top of the webpage, so the unusual dimensions of the banner photo -wide and narrow, requires that you previsualize your photos before you shoot them.

WHY ARE YOU SHOOTING THIS?
This assignment can be both challenging and fun -and it gives you valuable training. Shooting images in a challenging size/format that meet a client’s specific requirements is something professional photographers are asked to do on a daily basis.  In addition to “real world” training, having your image published on the school website is kind of cool, because thousands of people see your photo when they log onto the school’s site.  Finally, shooting for the web gives you another photo credit that can be added to your resume.

WHAT TO SHOOT:

•Using beautiful light and interesting composition, shoot 30 images and submit your 2 most INTERESTING photos showing the visually compelling aspects of our campus.

•After you have shot, crop your photos to the following dimensions:
1850 pixels wide x 720 pixels @72 PPI tall
•Title your photos:

lastname_webpic1
lastname_webpic2

lastname_webpic3 (this is your proofsheet)

•Put your images and proofsheet in the Google Classroom "webpics" folder.

•You can use a DSLR camera for this assignment, or you can use the panorama feature on your iPhone.

•Although this assignment appears easy, in reality, it can be challenging because the photo content requirements and dimensions are very specific.
•As you have seen from looking at the website, the photo dimensions are really wide and thin, measuring 1850 pixels wide by 720 pixels high.
